My Simon Pegg post of the day

The man who would be Scotty:

At the Spaced numb-a-thon here in Austin, Pegg disappointed fans by stating he was not allowed to "do the Scotty voice" before official movie promotion began. They will, however allow the Trek teaser posters to be released. Here is Simon Pegg as Scotty (the only reason I think I'll even see this movie):

Hmmm...looks...a whole fuckload like Scotty.

Though he is a cutie with the dark hair:

I still prefer him blond.

All right, enough frivolous crap. Next up: a post of actual substance? Perish the thought!

Oooh, never heard of Simon Pegg before but I like him. However, I seem to prefer him with dark hair.

This should be interesting. I miss this series. Not sure how I'll feel about seeing other actors portraying the characters I've grown to love after obsessing about them for years. It's also going to have to be an excellent script.

I have been anti this movie since Zachary Quinto was cast as Spock. I don't know who would have made a good Spock, but I have a difficult time picturing Quinto, mostly because I don't think he can act, and his voice is all wrong.

And whoever that is playing Kirk doesn't do it for me either.

So Pegg is literally the only reason I can get behind the idea of this movie. I have a very wait and see atitude about it.

First of all, a post about Simon IS a post about substance. Lots and lots of yummy substance. Secondly, I'm actually excited about this movie. It's sci-fi... it's based on a TV show I'm relatively familiar with (I grew up watching Next Generation but no other Star Trek series)... it's directed by J.J. Abrams, who I just can't get enough of... and although Chris Pine looks nothing like Kirk, Quinto looks a heck of a lot like Spock when he's in makeup. His section of the poster creeped me out.

Plus, the fact that nothing has leaked about the movie makes me want to see it. For me, no publicity is good publicity. The less I know, the more intrigued I am because of the potential possibilities of the movie.

But... isn't Pegg a red head? I definitely prefer him lighter.

Pegg has that everyman-ish quality that allows him to pull off any hair color. Either way, I am obsessed.

I was a TOS trekker as a kid, who then watched TNG and DS9. I gave it up when Roddenberry died, because that's when the franchise went down the tubes. I have seen all the movies. I love 'em all, even the bad ones.

I stopped obsessing about Star Trek after DS9, too. Voyager just didn't do much for me. I did watch the first season but got tired of it really quickly. Never even saw one episode of Enterprise.

I also love all the movies - even the bad ones! I even once got into trouble with Paramount because on some forum, myself and another guy started a joke thread - which every member of the forum knew was a joke script - and it got so popular it ended up being passed around at some convention. Well, Paramount's lawyers contacted the forum and shut down all our fun. Wish I kept a copy of it because it was really good. It was the movie where Picard buries Kirk. You know, Malcolm Macdowell and Whoopi Goldberg, etc.

I just never got into the character of Janeway or the rest of the Voyager group.

That was you!!!!!

I'd actually heard about that somewhere! It is a shame, I'd love to read that script.

And don't even get me started on Janeway. they fucked up a great opportunity with her by not being able to decide what sort of character they wanted her to be (she was either too attractive to be considered powerful (!!!!), or too manly powerful to be considered attractive). Gah!

Enterprise just sucked all around.

Yep, that was me and another person who were just being silly and next thing you know, Paramount's lawyers sent a letter to the forum admin and said cease and desist. The funny thing was, those moron lawyers thought it was the actual script being leaked!!! That's what really made it funny.

If I could find it, I'd post it on some fan fiction site just for laughs. Come to think of it, it was probably my actual first fan fic ever! LOL
