Monday Night TV - some brief thoughts

Chuck
Zachary Levi is totally OM NOM NOM, and they let us know in this episode that the white Nerd Herders shirt does cover more than meets the eye. Which has nothing whatsoever to do with why I loved this episode. Not at all. Neither does the wonderful man-love occurring between Chuck and Casey. Nope. I loved this episode because I can turn off my brain and have a great time and not think I'm watching something mindless because it's smarter than your average brainless show. Did that make any sense? Okay, so the Sarah character still bothers me, but I get her place as the idealized hot spy chick. I don't watch for her. But if you were to mention any other character besides Sarah, I would say, "Yes, I watch it to see...(Chuck, Casey!<3!, Ellie, Awesome, Lester, Jeff, and even Morgan - who sometimes bugs me)." This was the premier I have been waiting for, and I was pleased.

Heroes
This episode bothered me less, or possibly I am being sucked into the hive mind that has kept it on the air for a third season. I don't know. What pisses me off about this show is that it could be so fucking good. It could be brilliant, even, but instead it is an uneven, sometimes boring, mess that tinkers with character arcs too much for us to even continue to care about them. A few thoughts:

Sylar's two minute turn as a conflicted good guy? Made me angry because that was the best Sylar I'd seen so far. This is what they should have done with his character all along. Because for that two minutes? He was totally badass. Badass. He could have been the Batman of the series.

Hiro's storyline bores me to tears. Literally, I almost started crying I was missing so much the Hiro of season 1.

Parkman's story is the only one holding my interest for any length of time because Parkman is the only character I care about anymore.

HRG can just keep on doin' what he's doin' I love his consistency and awesomeness.

Everybody else: STOP WHINING SO MUCH. YOU HAVE SUPERPOWERS, FOR FUCK'S SAKE!

totally agree about chuck -- it's a great action comedy and the actor is just too cute. Plus Adam Baldwin!! Casey isn't as awesome as Jayne, but still pretty fun...even if he was going to kill chuck. We all have our flaws...lol.

Glad I never bothered watching "Heroes" in the first place -- i'd probably just be disappointed.

Lynnez - Oh, I don't know. Casey's reluctance to kill Chuck speaks volumes to me (and not because I'm a slasher, I swear!). Pre-Serenity Jayne simply would have asked, "How much?" before doing the deed, which makes Jayne a great character for one show, and Casey an equally great character for another, imo.

oh i agree his reluctance to kill chuck does speaks volumes for his character and that unlike Jayne he actually has a heart -- but Jayne occasionally grew one -- plus he has his own song -- for me that just can't be topped...lol.

Though Adam Baldwin is probably 90% of the reason why I even started watching chuck and keeps me watching. I just think he's a more subdued degree of awesome when compared to Jayne -- if there is such a thing. But that's just me -- I guess we have proof now that were are in fact not the same person...lol.

LOL!
At least now we don't have to try to kill each other to keep the universe from imploding.
...bad doppelganger reference, sorry. I would never try to kill you...

Hahaha, I love it. And I totally agree about Heroes... how can they whine when they have superpowers? How are they always the victims? Geez.

Here's the thing that bugs me - only the bad guys aren't conflicted about their powers. It seems to have powers and want to be a good guy involves all this fucking angst. Sheesh. Give me a break.

I could only find three episodes of Chuck on the net, so I went out and bought the first season at Target yesterday.

RT - I don't think you're going to regret it.

Did you know there is a Chuck comic book? The main story and art are only so/so but the back of the first issue has a short in the back of Capt. Awesome's travel tips which I thought was amusing and the back of the 3rd has a film noir spoof told by Morgan.
